Keynote address by special guest Sir Bob Parker KNZM
Four-term Mayor of Christchurch City, Sir Bob Parker – who was knighted for his services to the community and his leadership during the disastrous earthquakes that devastated Christchurch in September 2010 and February 2011, and for spearheading the mammoth recovery effort – will introduce Julia Morison and Doc Ross, two well-established Christchurch-based artists whose practices were fundamentally changed by this catastrophe.
Establishing a context for the two powerful installations that are the focus of Spirit Level, Sir Bob will describe the realities of life in a shattered and psychologically-broken place and the need for dynamic, inspirational approaches to enable the city's rejuvenation.
