Spirit Level focuses on installations by two well-established, Christchurch-based artists Julia Morison and Doc Ross, whose practices were fundamentally changed by the catastrophic Canterbury earthquakes in September 2010 and February 2011. The artists' work will provide a catalyst for a forum discussion about community resilience, urban renewal and reconstruction. By encapsulating the many poignant stories, personal experiences and trauma resulting from the ongoing impact of the devastation, artists can contribute to - and challenge - notions of public and private space in the city's rejuvenation.
